””A strong debut”
”Nothing less than brilliant”
In anticipation of my début novel ”Pojkarna i klostret” (The Monastery Boys, Brombergs förlag 2021) I travelled in my grandfathers footsteps to seek the answers to questions that have haunted me for years. I’ve tried to put into words the vulnerable situation of a child, whose life is transformed when he and his brother are transferred to a boarding school in a venerated Benedictine monastery – and the First World War breaks out. When the war is over and the brothers finally are able to return home, their innocense and their hopes have been crushed in the brutal monastic environment.
Arts journalist. Writer. Broadcaster. Lecturer.
I spent my childhood and early youth, 60’s to late 70’s, in Moscow, Vienna, Rome, and back in Sweden in suburban Stockholm – Lidingo and Sigtuna.
The 80’s took me to the USA for liberal arts studies in music, art history and literature at Bowdoin College and University of Michigan, and a Masters Degree from Juilliard in New York.
I was trained as a classical singer, but since the late 90’s – after studying drama theory on Masters level at University of Stockholm, German language courses in Berlin och München and a great deal of soul searching – I work as freelance arts journalist and critic, first and foremost in Dagens Nyheter and Swedish National Radio.
In August 2021 I published my debut novel, ”Pojkarna i klostret” (The Monastery Boys, Brombergs förlag). Today I am based in Österlen – Southern Sweden – and in Stockholm.

In October I travel to Potsdam to take part in the jury, and to attend the awards ceremony on October 15th.
